The position is part of a project to develop pioneering mechanical sensors and to use them to hunt for dark matter in the laboratory.

Your Tasks
  • Experimental research in hunting for dark matter in the laboratory. This includes developing novel mechanical sensors using magnetically-levitated superconductors.
  • Combating noise from different sources, including external vibrations and magnetic fields
  • Supervision of bachelor’s and master’s students
Your Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with
  • A master’s degree in physics
  • A creative approach to problem-solving
  • A collaborative mindset
Our Offer
  • Exciting and diversified research embedded in a motivated team
  • The chance to be part of ground-breaking science
  • Training in precision experiments with levitated superconductors from experts in the field
  • The opportunity to grow professionally under attentive mentorship
  • Annual gross salary of € 39.208,79, according to the collective agreement of the Austrian Academy of Sciences
You will be enrolled in the PhD programme at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien), and have access to courses and resources from both the TU Wien and HEPHY.
