Job description:
The Experimental High Energy Physics Group at Brandeis University has an opening for a
postdoctoral research associate to work on the ATLAS experiment. The ATLAS group at Brandeis
plays a leading role in the ATLAS Inner Tracker (ITk) Strip detector while pursuing a broad
physics program focusing on the measurement of Higgs boson properties, precision Standard
Model measurements, and direct searches for physics beyond the Standard Model.
The successful candidate is expected to play a major role in one or more of the following areas:
data analysis, building and commissioning the ITk Strip detector, ATLAS tracking performance
studies. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in experimental particle physics, excellent data analysis
and programming skills, and the ability to carry out an independent research program. Experience
with detector work is highly valued but not required. This position is based at CERN and the start
date is flexible.
Review of applications will begin immediately, and continue until the position is filled. The
application material should be sent electronically. Interested candidates should send a curriculum
vitae, a brief statement about research experience and interests, and arrange for three letters of
recommendation to be sent to:
Prof. Gabriella Sciolla, e-mail: sciolla@brandeis.edu
Prof. Aram Apyan, e-mail: arapyan@brandeis.edu
