Deadline on May 24, 2025
Job description:
Our experimental group at the HEP laboratory [1] of KBFI/NICPB is currently looking to expand its team. The candidate would take part in a new five year project aimed at searches for Di-Higgs boson production (HH) at the LHC and beyond. HH signatures offer insight into the Higgs boson potential itself: one of the very few unexplored corners of the Standard Model of particle physics (SM), as well as several beyond SM theories. With recent advances in analysis techniques and a large dataset from the LHCs Runs 2 and 3, SM sensitivity is coming into reach fast, making it one of the most interesting topics in the coming years!
The project will consist out of three main efforts:
- CMS Run3 HH Analysis: participation in analysis such as HH->bb𝜏𝜏 or HH->Multilepton.
- General (CMS) HH efforts: Development of new HH signal interpretations, tools for the modeling of said signals and the active participation in HH combination and reinterpretation efforts.
- Higgs and HH at future colliders: Preparation for Higgs and HH measurements at future colliders such as HL-LHC and FCC-ee/pp, including the development of new object reconstruction algorithms.
Qualifications:
- Applicants must have a PhD in physics, our team mostly consists of young researchers, therefore first or second time postdocs are especially welcome!
- Applicants should have both interest in and possess a research profile that enables them to work efficiently in data analysis with the CMS experiment. Experience with the CMS experiment, Higgs physics and/or the CMS Higgs combine framework are considered helpful.
- Experience in machine learning and modern python programming is appreciated.
- Willingness to help in the supervision of both graduate as well as undergraduate students is expected.
- Our group promotes equal opportunity. As women are currently underrepresented in our group, we encourage women to apply for this position. Equally qualified and suitable female applicants will receive preference. Severely disabled and disabled applicants with the same status will receive preference over equally qualified non-disabled applicants.
- The job will be based in Tallinn / Estonia with a starting contract length of 12-24 months
We encourage interested researchers to send their application including a cover letter, their CV and two letters of recommendation to torben.lange@cern.ch
Submission deadline: 24.05.2025 or until the position is filled.
