Abstract: (IOP)
We propose a backreaction toy model with realistic featuresand confront it with the Union2.1 supernova data. The modelprovides a good fit even though the expansion history is quitedifferent from the ΛCDM model and the effective equation of stateis far from -1. We discuss compatibility (or lack thereof) withother observations. We show that the FRW consistency conditionbetween distance and expansion rate is violated with an amplitudethat is slightly below the current observational limits. We expectthat this is also the case in the real universe if backreaction issignificant, providing a distinct signature of backreaction.Note:
