Abstract: (APS)
Yrast states in Se72 up to Iπ=14+ have been excited in the reaction Ni58(O16, 2p) at 40-58 MeV beam energy. Their mean lifetimes have been determined by using the Doppler shift attenuation method. The measured B(E2) values of transitions within the ground-state band are discussed in terms of several nuclear models, including the triaxial rotor and interacting boson models. An upper limit of τf<0.1 ps was deduced for the feeding-time of the highest yrast states.
