Abstract: (Elsevier)
The evolution of the Robertson-Walker scale factor R ( t ) during a first order phase transition from a quark-gluon plasma phase to a hadronic phase is investigated. In the k = 0 case R ( t ) is found to be oscillatory, a behaviour which sets an upper limit Δt m to the time allowed for estimates of the actual transition time. Furthermore, Δt m and the transition time are found to be fairly insensitive to the quark-gluon equation of state at a given transition temperature.- ASTROPHYSICS
