Abstract: (Elsevier)
The exact O( α s 2 QCD correction to the energy-energy correlation function for e + e − annihilation is studied. Results are presented and discussed for the correlation function over the entire angular range, including the limiting back-to-back and collinear jet regions, and also for the corresponding asymmetry. The dependence of the second-order correction on the renormalization convention and on the scale of the corresponding constant is analysed. The phenomenological implications are also discussed.- QUANTUM CHROMODYNAMICS
