Abstract: (International Press)
We show that the Hamiltonian describing nonrelativistic electronswith spin, interacting with the quantized radiation field and severalfixed nuclei with total charge , has a ground state when is less than . The result holds for any value of the fine structure constant and for any value of the ultraviolet cutoff on theradiation field. There is no infrared cutoff. The basic mathematicalingredient in our proof is a novel localization of theelectromagnetic field in such a way that the errors in the energy areof smaller order than , where is the localization radius.References(0)
