Abstract: (International Press)
We show that the Hamiltonian describing NN nonrelativistic electronswith spin, interacting with the quantized radiation field and severalfixed nuclei with total charge ZZ, has a ground state when NNis less than Z+1Z+1. The result holds for any value of the fine structure constantα\alpha and for any value of the ultraviolet cutoff Λ\Lambda on theradiation field. There is no infrared cutoff. The basic mathematicalingredient in our proof is a novel localization of theelectromagnetic field in such a way that the errors in the energy areof smaller order than 1/L1/L, where LL is the localization radius.
