It has been predicted that with the hypothesis of a Regge trajectory conspiring with the pion trajectory and applying the factorisation theorem, the differential cross section for the reaction π + p → N ∗ ϱ 0 should have a dip in the forward direction near t = 0. It is shown that no such dip is observed in 8 GeV c π + p interactions.
