Abstract: (Elsevier)
The possibility of constructing a relativistic spectrum-generating algebraic scheme for hadrons is reexamined, interpreting the symmetry operators in terms of local weak currents. Starting from the quark model an infinite-dimensional Lie algebra containing ‘light-like’ charges and translations P μ is constructed. Restricting ourselves to the representations labeled by the quantum numbers which may be interpreted physically, the whole scheme is shown to be unambigously leading to six solutions, defining the masses and weak-coupling constants in terms of Hermitean representations of the algebras SU(3) ⊗ SU(3), SL(3,C) and SU(3) T 8 .References(22)
