Abstract: (Elsevier)
The vector analyzing power has been measured for the reactions 16 O(d, d) 16 O and 16 O(d, p) 17 O leading to states in 17 O at E x = 0.0 and 0.87 MeV at a deuteron energy of 8 MeV. The vector analyzing power and the cross section for the 28 Si(d, p) 29 Si reaction leading to states in 29 Si at E x = 0.0, 1.27, 2.03, 2.43, 3.07, 3.62 and 4.08 MeV have been measured at a deuteron energy of 9 MeV. For l n = 2 transitions, the vector analyzing power near the stripping peak is found to be negative for j π = 3 2 + and positive for j π = 5 2 + . The measurements on 16 O(d, d) 16 O were analyzed in terms of the optical model. The (d, p) measurements are compared with DWBA calculations. Spectroscopic factors obtained from the analysis are in fair agreement with theoretical predictions.- Nuclear reactions
