From semi-empirical considerations, we suggest the application of broken polynomial expressions in terms of the angular momentum for describing rotational spectra at spin values I < 30. A three-parameter expression for the moment of inertia gives satisfactory fits to the ground state bands of several even-even nucleides, including high-spin ( I max = 18) recently identified.
