Abstract: (Elsevier)

The threshold for the reaction 54 Fe(p,n) 54 Co has been measured as 9192.4±1.8 keV . The corresponding end-point energy for the superallowed Fermi decay 54 Co(β + ) 54 Fe is 7218.5 ± 1.8 keV . The half-life for 54 Co decay was found to be 193.0 ± 0.3 ms . The calculated “effective” ft value is in good agreement with those of 14 O, 26 Al m and 34 Cl.
