Abstract: (Elsevier)
We evaluate the effects of correlations on one- and two-body densities by developing a low-order approximation (LOA) in the framework of the Jastrow formalism. The accuracy of the method is verified by comparing the predictions for the elastic form factor, the momentum distribution and the inelastic form factor with the results of an exact calculation performed in a model case. It is shown, contrary to what is often believed, that one-body quantities provide an adequate test for the presence of short-range correlations in nuclei.References(13)
