Abstract: (Elsevier)
Momentum distributions resulting from mean field theories are studied. It is found that their main features depend little on the effective mean field considered. Simple parametrizations of this rather universal curve are proposed to replace the standard distribution of the Fermi gas model, which is found to be quite unrealistic for finite nuclei. Simple approximations to the Wigner transform are used to understand the structure of the momentum distributions, and particularly to identify their deviation from the nuclear matter momentum distribution due to finite size effects.References(21)
