Abstract: (APS)
We study the phase transition of the Abelian Higgs model with many magnetic vortices, which turns out to give the Marshall-Ramond model of relativistic strings with the aid of the dual transformation technique. We show that the vortex condensation appears as a stable phase in the strong-coupling region. The relation between the dielectric permeability and the order parameter of the phase transition exhibits the antiscreening of electric charges in the vortex-condensed medium. We also demonstrate that the potential between two opposite charges is linearly rising, unless the distance between them exceeds a critical length where the two charges are liberated.- GAUGE FIELD THEORY
