Abstract: (APS)
The usual grand-unified-theory scenario for producing the baryon asymmetry of the universe relies on the out-of-equilibrium decay of superheavy bosons which are initially present in equilibrium numbers. We consider the case in which no superheavy bosons are present initially. For K≃3×1017 GeV αM>1, the baryon excess generated is the same as that in the usual scenario (α=couplingstrength, M=massofthesuperheavyboson). For K<1, the baryon excess produced is O(K2) smaller than that in the usual scenario.- ASTROPHYSICS
