The subject of baryon spectroscopy is reviewed in some detail, from the viewpoints of theory and of the experimental data. In the theoretical section, the status of both pre- and post-QCD quark models is discussed. A brief account of methods of theoretical analysis is included in the section on baryon resonance experiments.
