Abstract: (Elsevier)
We investigate the stability of Poincaré × O(3) invariant solutions for a pure semi-simple Yang-Mills, as well as Yang-Mills coupled to gravity in 6-dimensional space-time compactified over M 4 × S 2 . In contrast to the Maxwell U(1) theory [6] in six dimensions coupled with gravity and investigated previously, the present theory exhibits tachyonic excitations and is unstable.
