Abstract: (Elsevier)
A method is described in which a passive magnetic shunt is used to provide clean extraction of primary electron beams from a photon tagging spectrometer. For a wide range of magnetic fields and incident electron energies, the point at which the primary beam leaves the system can be very well localized. The design, fabrication and testing of the magnetic shunt are described.
