Abstract: (APS)
Implications of broken flavor-SU(3) symmetry are studied for J/ψ and ηc decays to two- and three-meson final states. Nonet-symmetry breaking and pseudoscalar-meson mixing are discussed using recent measurements of J/ψ→vector+pseudoscalar branching ratios by the Mark III collaboration. Detailed fits are presented to determine phenomenological parameters which describe the various mesonic decays of the J/ψ. We conclude that the η and η’ can be mixed with ι(1440), and predict B(J/ψ→ιω)=(0.75±0.12)×10 -3 and B(J/ψ→ιφ)=(0.09±0.02)×10 -3. In J/ψ →pseudoscalar+pseudoscalar decays, electromagnetic and mass-breaking effects are found to be of similar importance. Different SU(3)-breaking patterns are observed in J/ψ→PV and ηc→VV decays.
