Abstract: (Elsevier)
The consistency of the superspace formulation of N = 1 supergravity coupled to the supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in ten dimensions is explicitly demonstrated. This is done by solving the superspace Bianchi identities subjected to a particular set of constraints on the superfield strengths. As a by-product, the complete set of field equations is obtained for the coupled theory. It is briefly discussed how this approach may be used to construct a manifestly supersymmetric field theory of the type generated by the heterotic string.- SUPERGRAVITY: TEN-DIMENSIONAL
- GAUGE FIELD THEORY: YANG-MILLS
- SUPERSYMMETRY: REPRESENTATION
- FIELD THEORY: BIANCHI IDENTITY
