Generalizing the “c-theorem” of Zamolodchikov to the case of the bosonic σ -model with the dilaton coupling we prove that the conditions of its Weyl invariance (presumably equivalent to the tree-level Bose string equations of motion) can be derived as equations of motion from some action. A simple expression for the action is found.
