Approximating Multi - Jet Production in Annihilation

We present a simple approximation to the QCD tree-level amplitude squared for e + e − → q q + gluons , for an arbitrary number of gluons, based on knowledge of the most helicity-violating sub-amplitude. The approximation is accurate at the 10% level when compared with the known exact results for up to three gluons. The crossed process e − q →e − q+gluonsa is also considered, and the approximation is found to be accurate at the 2% level.- ELECTRON POSITRON: ANNIHILATION
