Abstract: (Elsevier)
We solve the non-linear (supersymmetric) σ-model that describes a string, bosonic or super, both open and closed, in a shock wave background metric with an arbitrary profile. We obtain an exact operatorial expression for the S matrix. It coincides, for a profile given by the tree string amplitude, with the S matrix recently obtained by resumming string loops in a superstring collision at ultrahigh energies in a flat metric theory. This shows the emergence of a non-trivial curved metric as an infinite-genus effect of a flat-space treatment.- MODEL: STRING
