Abstract: (McGill U., Montreal (main))
Using a sub-sample of the Belle II data sample of luminosity 189 inverse femtobarns, the branching fraction of a B meson decaying to a D(*) meson, lepton and corresponding neutrino, where the lepton is either a muon or electron, is explored. This analysis first contributed to the published Belle II results of the hadronic tagged B0 meson branching fraction decaying to a D*+ meson, muon or electron, and corresponding neutrino where the D*+ decays to a D0 meson and charged pion, and where the D0 meson decays to a charged kaon and pion. This study is expanded to use both B+ meson and B0 meson decays in addition to multiple exclusive D* meson and D meson decay modes. This contributes to one of the first tests of lepton flavour universality at Belle II using exclusive measurements of the denominator of R(D(*)) = the branching fraction of a B meson decaying to a D(*) meson, tau lepton and corresponding neutrino divided by the branching fraction of a B meson decaying to a D(*) meson, muon or electron, and corresponding neutrino- electron positron: annihilation
- electron positron: colliding beams
- B: branching ratio
- D*(2010): hadronic decay
- D0: hadronic decay
- lepton: flavor: universality
- B0: branching ratio
- branching ratio: ratio: measured
- D: decay modes
