Abstract: (Elsevier)
We define a W-algebra as a special class of meromorphic conformal field theory. We then show that there are closed W-algebraic structures in coset models of the form g ̂ 1 n × g ̂ k n / g ̂ k+1 n based on the simple Lie algebras A n , B n , D n and E n , for sufficiently high values of k .- field theory: conformal
