Abstract: (Elsevier)
Closed analytic expressions for the O( αα s ) corrections to the vacuum polarizations of neutral gauge bosons induced by a massive quark and to those of charged bossons associated with a quark isodoublet of large mass splitting are derived through dispersive methods for variable external invariant mass s . Their small- s , high- s and threshold expansions are calculated. As an application, the tb contributions in O( αα s ) to the radiative parameters Δϱ(0), Δr and the oblique correction δA LR to the left-right asymmetry A LR in e + e − collisions are studied. Handy approximation formulae for these corrections are presented which are valid for m t > M W and take into account the next-to-leading terms in M W / m t .
