Abstract: (Springer)
We consider a model for thex-dependence of the quark distributions in the proton. Within the context of simple statistical assumptions, we obtain the parton densities in the infinite momentum frame. In a second step lowest order QCD corrections are incorporated to these distributions. Crude, but reasonable, agreement with experiment is found for theF2, valence andq,qˉ\bar q distributions forx≳0.2.
