Abstract: (Elsevier)
We consider a class of solutions to string theory obtained by identifying Minkowski space under a discrete subgroup of the Lorentz group. These lorentzian orbifolds have singularities which form to the future of nonsingular spacelike surfaces. We argue that unlike the familiar case of euclidean orbifolds, test strings do not have a well behaved propagation near the singular points.- talk
