Abstract: (Elsevier)
The size of the gluon distribution at small x has important implications for phenomenology at future high energy hadron-hadron and lepton-hadron colliders. We extend a recent global parton distribution fit to investigate the constraints on the gluon from deep inelastic and prompt photon data. In particular, we estimate a band of allowed gluon distributions with qualitatively different small- x behaviour and study the implications of these on a variety of cross sections at high energy pp and ep colliders.- electron p: deep inelastic scattering
- deep inelastic scattering: electron p
- p p: inclusive reaction
- Drell-Yan process
- photon: direct production
- direct production: photon
- gluon: momentum spectrum
