Abstract: (Elsevier)
Diverse aspects of charge symmetry breaking (CSB) are studied. The mass difference between up and down quarks accounts for all of the observed non-electromagnetic CSB in particle and nuclear physics. The medium-range nature of the ϱ-ω exchange force is emphasized. The uncertainty in removing Coulomb effects from the proton-proton scattering length is shown to be small. The success in understanding the Nolen-Schiffer anomaly is used to place limits on a quark model of nuclei.Note:
