Motivated by recent suggestions that renormalisation constants evaluated at the fixed point of the ϵ-expansion for two-dimensional quantum gravity might reproduce Polyakov's exact two-dimensional results, we discuss the perturbative calculation of the effective action for quantum gravity in (2 − ϵ) dimensions. We show that the theory is non-renormalizable at two-loop order.- quantum gravity
