Abstract: (Elsevier)
Collective rotational motion in deformed nuclei is described by relativistic mean-field theory. Starting from a lagrangian containing nucleonic and mesonic degrees of freedom and using the concept of the cranking model we derive the classical equations of motion in a frame rotating with constant angular velocity around an axis perpendicular to the symmetry axis. In particular, we apply this theory to the yrast line of the nucleus 20 Ne and find qualitative agreement with earlier non-relativistic density-dependent Hartree-Fock calculations.References(46)
