Abstract: (Elsevier)
The nuclear response in the quasi-elastic region has been evaluated considering, in addition to the ordinary one-body current, also the contribution of the meson exchange currents. Both one- and two-nucleon emission mechanisms have been considered. The final state interactions are treated within a phenomenological model. Results of calculations performed in 12 C for three different values of the momentum transfer are presented. The effect of the final state interactions results to be more important than the contribution of the meson exchange currents. The comparison with the experimental data shows that, while the longitudinal response is rather well described, the transverse response is consistently underestimated.- electron nucleus: inelastic scattering
