The Rho meson in dense matter and its influence on dilepton production rates

Abstract: (Elsevier)
Rho meson propagation in dense nuclear matter and dilepton production are considered in a phenomenological model with coupling to π + π − states. Special attention is paid to constraints from gauge invariance. Taking into account the usual π-Δh coupling it is found that the rho meson in matter is slightly quenched and shifted upwards. A new interesting structure at ~500 MeV appears in the rho-meson mass spectrum.- nuclear matter
