The possibility of nuclear gamma Cherenkov radiation (NGCR) produced by charged leptons passing through a nuclear medium is investigated using a quantum theoretical approach. NGCR thresholds, differential cross sections and polarizations are estimated. For the confirmation of the NGCR nature coincidence measurements, and, in addition, polarization measurements are suggested.
