Abstract:
Equivalence between the momentum cut-off regulator and the Schwinger proper-time regularization is established by introducing a smearing function into the proper-time integration. We explicitly demonstrate the agreement in the renormalization group flow equations for the blocked potential as well as the wavefunction renormalization constant. Using scalar electrodynamics as an example, we illustrate how our formalism preserves all symmetries and can be extended to other gauge theories.- expansion: derivative
- field theory: scalar
- perturbation theory: higher-order
- regularization: dependence
- renormalization group
- quantum electrodynamics
