Abstract: (APS)
The decay τ−→K−ηντ has been observed with the CLEO II detector. The η meson is reconstructed using two decay channels, η→γγ and π+π−π0. The measured branching fraction is B(τ−→K−ηντ)=(2.6±0.5±0.4)×10−4, somewhat higher than theoretical estimates. An improved upper limit for the second-class-current decay τ−→π−ηντ is set, B(τ−→π−ηντ)<1.4×10−4 at 95% C.L., consistent with theoretical expectations.- electron positron: colliding beams
