Abstract: (APS)
We consider the production of heavy quarks at high energies within the semihard QCD approach. The theoretical results are compared with recent Fermilab data on b-flavored production at the Fermilab Tevatron. The analysis covers the inclusive B-meson spectra and B-B¯ azimuthal correlations, where significant deviations from back-to-back kinematics are observed by both groups, D0 and CDF. Looking for similar effects in other theoretical approaches, we also present a comparison with fixed order perturbative QCD calculations and with the Lund model. Finally, we extrapolate the theoretical predictions to CERN LHC energies and discuss the possible signatures, which would allow us to experimentally discriminate the production mechanisms.- anti-p p: annihilation
