Abstract: (Elsevier)
From measurements of kaonic atom X-ray energies we measure the negative kaon mass to be 493.87 ± 0.19 MeV. The effects of the strong interaction between the kaon and nucleus cause the X rays from the 4f-3d transition in chlorine ( Z =17) to be shifted by -0.94 ± 0.40 keV. This shift was used to estimate the strong interaction shifts needed for the mass measurement.- k nucleon: interaction
