Abstract: (Elsevier)
An explicit calculation of Casimir effect through an alternative approach of field quantization [J.P. Gazeau, J. Renaud, M.V. Takook, Class. Quantum. Grav. 17 (2000) 1415, gr-qc/9904023; M.V. Takook, Int. J. Mod. Phys. E 11 (2002) 509, gr-qc/0006019], has been presented in this Letter. In this method, the auxiliary negative norm states have been utilized, the modes of which do not interact with the physical states or real physical world. Naturally these modes cannot be affected by the physical boundary conditions. Presence of negative norm states play the role of an automatic renormalization device for the theory.- 98.80.H
