Abstract: (APS)
A sample of 3567 events of the reaction π−p→π−π+n was obtained from the measurement of about 50 600 two-prong events in an exposure of the Brookhaven National Laboratory 80-in. hydrogen bubble chamber to an 8-GeV/c π− beam. The production and decay angular distributions for the ρ0 were studied comparing with the predictions of the absorptive one-pion-exchange and vector-dominance models. The production and decay angular distributions of the f0 were also analyzed and compared with the prediction of the gauge-invariance model. A study of the π+π− mass distribution suggests an enhancement at ∼ 2100 MeV.- pi- p: interaction
