Abstract: (Elsevier)
Domains in the Mandelstam triangle 0 < s 1 , s 2 , s 1 + s 2 < 4, for which inequalities of the type φ 0 ( s 1 ) < φ 0 ( s 2 ) can be proven rigorouslyare enlarged. In particular, we get φ ′ 0 ( s ) < 0 for 0 ⩽ s < 1.219. The main technical tools are the physical region crossing conditions derived recently by Roy and others. It is shown that these domains nearly are the largest ones obtainable from crossing, analyticity and positivity. With essentially the same method, we also prove that the slope of the D-wave is negative for 1.435 < s < 4. These inequalities are then further strengthened by including information on the S-wave in the physical region. Finally, two recent models are tested and found to violate some of the inequalities.- mandelstam representation
