Abstract: (Elsevier)
The constraint that real particles be produced in the final state is shown to lead to a depletion in the apparent value of the asymptotic total neutron cross section as determined from deuteron scattering. For pion, kaon or photon scattering this depletion is ∼ 5%. For electron scattering, the effect scales and has a shape which is quite similar to the experimental data. Its magnitude depends crucially on the high momentum components in the deuteron.- n: total cross section
