Abstract: (AIP)
Recent observations have shown an apparent association between short duration GRBs with a variety of host galaxies at moderate redshifts. However, a statistical analysis with a large sample of BATSE short GRBs indicates that at least some portion of short GRBs originate in the local Universe. We have considered pre‐Swift well‐localized short GRBs to examine the possible association of these bursts with galaxies at low redshift. We have used BATSE/IPN localizations of short bursts and SDSS DR5/PSCz catalogs as galaxy surveys.- 98.70.Rz
