Abstract: (Springer)
The effect of the deuteron quadrupole moment is computed for quasi-elastic deuteron-deuteron scattering in the framework of Glauber theory. It is shown that, as in elastic πd and pd scattering, the effect of theD-wave is such that the dip, caused by the interference of single- and double-scattering amplitudes, is completely filled in the unpolarized cross-section. However, dips are present in the polarized cross-sections; their presence could be detected by performing an experiment with polarized deutcron beams (or targets).- deuterium deuterium: elastic scattering
