I consider the relation of explanations for the observed data totestability in the following contexts: observational andexperimental detection of dark matter; observational andexperimental detection of dark energy or a cosmological constantLambda; observational or experimental testing of the multiverseproposal to explain a small non-zero value of Lambda; andobservational testing of the possibility of large scale spatialinhomogeneity with zero Lambda.
