Abstract: (APS)
In a recent paper, the general form of the laws of motion was found for particles which are multipole sources of coupled electromagnetic and mesonic fields. In paper II of this series, a systematic approximation method was developed for the solution of the nonlinear field equations consistent with the equations of motion to any given order in the constant e coupling the electromagnetic to the mesonic field. In this paper, the resulting first-order equations of motion (both for field theory and the theory of action at a distance) are used to calculate the cross sections for all processes resulting from incident electromagnetic or neutral or charged scalar mesonic waves. In all cases, the results agree with the cross sections found in zeroth order, neglecting the interaction of the electromagnetic and the charged meson fields, by various authors. They also are consistent with the principle of detailed balancing.
