Abstract: (APS)
In this paper we apply our new renormalization program to the study of the proton lifetime in an asymptotically free SU(5) model. In our study we have included the full one-loop renormalization effects, including (i) gluon, U(1)-boson, and W exchange corrections, and (ii) the self-energy mass renormalization effects of the X boson. While MX can be determined from low-energy data and is independent of Higgs-boson and fermion contents of the theory, the calculation of the proton lifetime is very dependent. By our analysis of an SU(5) model we hope to demonstrate how a complete one-loop renormalization of the proton lifetime can be carried out.- P: LIFETIME
